Tempting Peas And Potatoes In Yogurt Sauce

Yogurt is a main ingredient in many of the Indian recipes and adds a different flavor to the dishes. You can prepare it in 20 minutes and can cook it in 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon of sugar;
  • 3 potatoes (peeled and diced);
  • 1 fresh ginger (peeled);
  • ½ teaspoon of cumin seeds;
  • 3 tablespoon of vegetable oil;
  • 1 cup of peas (frozen);
  • ½ teaspoon of cumin seeds;
  • 1 to 2 fresh chillies;
  • 1-1/4 the cups of plain yogurt;
  • 1/8th teaspoon of grounded turmeric;
  • ½ teaspoon of mustard seeds;
  • 1 tablespoon + 2 tablespoon of chickpea flour.

Preparation Method

  • Firstly, cut the ginger into thin slices. Now, take the oil and heat it in a pan over medium heat. You can put in the mustard seeds now. As the seeds pop, put in the cumin seeds. After some time, put in the chillies and the ginger.
  • Secondly, stir it for ½ minute and put in the turmeric and potatoes in it. Moreover, stir the potatoes and put in 2/3 cup of water in it. Cover the pan and turn the heat to low flame. Moreover, allow it to simmer for about 6 to 8 minutes or till the time the potatoes become tender.
  • Meanwhile, place the yogurt in a bowl and beat it lightly with the help of a fork and whisk it until it is smooth as well as creamy. Now, slowly add in the yogurt mixture slowly. Make sure there are no lumps left in the yogurt mixture.
  • Now, add ½ teaspoon of salt as well as the sugar to the chickpea flour and yogurt mixture. Stir them slowly.
  • Moreover, when the potatoes are just tender, add in the peas and also the remaining ½ teaspoon of salt. Mix them properly. Cover the pan and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes. You can continue cooking it till the peas are tender.
  • Now, pour the chickpea flour and yogurt mixture and stir it for sometime over low flame. Let it simmer until the Indian recipe is cooked properly.
